I just opened this email from Purple Lab and was delighted to see my photo! I am so overwhelmed with happiness, excitement, and anticipation! I cannot wait to meet with the beyond fabulous creatrix, Karen Robinovitz, and join her on HSN. I have been reading her book, How to Become Famous in Two Weeks or Less, and I just fell in love with her. I’m sure that those of you who have tuned in to HSN would agree that Karen’s energy and passion for her brand is inspirational! As I said before, Purple Lab is a brand that I believe in and I have such respect for their message – You can have it all! Their beauty products are packed with ingredients that do more than just add a little color or cover up some imperfections and that is what makes this brand so luxurious. You can have it all so allow yourself to expect more out of your life and expect more out of your beauty products!
I cannot express how thankful I am for this opportunity. I would have never in my life entered any kind of model search. I don’t see myself as a model — I’m not tall enough (I’m 5′4″ .. although I could easily parade around in six inch heels and pretend to be 6 feet tall any day!) and I love to eat and digest my food! But when I saw the video of Karen talking about the competition and how Purple Lab was looking for someone “Sassy” and “Who loves glamour” and that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and heights, I thought, “.. maybe I have a shot!”
I am so happy I took the chance and was blown away by all the support I had received from all you. So many of you were so determined to get me to #1 and wanted to see me win. I had received a message from someone who was confused about what exactly they were voting for but told me they voted for me anyway because I said I wanted it. That means so much to me that a good number of you actually care about me and care to see me succeed. We all have dreams, goals, and sometimes full-blown fantasies, that we make up for ourselves but it’s not every day that other people will see and want for us the same.
This is just one of the hopefully many, many, many other amazing things I am going to accomplish in my life. I hope that this is an example to all of you that if you want something, no matter what it is and no matter how many people say you can’t, to just go for it! For most of my early teenage years, I’ve been called the ugliest of things. People would make fun of me for anything and everything. People would say I was ugly. I had a friend who told me my hair was ugly because it was so thick. I had teachers make fun of me for wearing makeup, for being interested in makeup, for spending ridiculous amounts of money on makeup. [I will agree, at times it was a teeny bit excessive .. but that's what I loved!] I could go on and on about all the things that people would try to discourage me about. I am so happy I never let any of it get to me or stand in my way. A lot of the times people say negative things because a) they don’t know what they’re talking about or b) they do know what they’re talking about but they just want to make you feel like you aren’t as good as them and to make themselves feel better. If I could pass on anything, it’s do not let those things get to you. Those who don’t support you don’t matter and never will. Those who do and will matter, will support you.
Thank you all so much for all of your kindness and support!
I will be seeing you all live from HSN Headquarters in Florida in April!
P.S. – I plan on doing tons of tweeting and possibly some behind-the-scenes filming during all this HSN stuff. Does that sound interesting to any of you? Let me know!
P.P.S. – Within just a few hours after the announcement, I also discovered I reached 40,000 subscribers on YouTube! Such a round number! Even more reason to do another giveaway! Thinking about what to giveaway this time around. My giveaway prizes always have to be fierce!
